Chartering Organization: Troop 85 is chartered by First Baptist Church, 1111 E Highway 50, O’Fallon, IL.

Meetings: Troop meetings are normally every Monday night at 7 pm, except the 1st Monday each month,

which is the Patrol Leaders Council Meeting.

Goal: Provide a secure learning environment where boys can develop into honorable men. Scouting’s values can be incorporated into a boy’s home, school and religious community. Scouts have many opportunities to learn skills of leadership, the outdoors and life. Each boy decides what he will learn and how quickly he will learn it. The value of his achievements will be reinforced through recognition and advancement in scouting ranks, positions of leadership in the troop and accomplishments during outdoor adventures. We provide Scouts the opportunities to advance, however Scouts are expected to complete all requirements to earn rank and merit badges.

Conduct: Members of Troop 85 obey the Scout Law and Oath. Non-denominational religious services are held on campouts. A Scout is reverent.

Membership: Currently Troop 85 has 57 Scouts in the ranks of Tenderfoot to Eagle.

Joining Fee / Dues: Troop 85 limits fund raising activities to enable Scouts to focus on the Scouting program. To facilitate this, a $100 one-time joining fee helps fund equipment and other troop expenses. This fee includes the first month’s dues. Recurring monthly dues are $4 a month and a subscription to Boy’s Life is included with these dues.

Adult Leaders: Troop 85 strongly encourages Parent/Guardian participation. History has shown that Scouts are more focused and motivated when they have active adult support.

Troop Leadership: Scoutmaster –Jeffrey Curry, 618-622-3192

Committee Chairman – Neal Haegele, 618-628-9777
